MG Real Estate establishes in the Stockholm region
The new 60,000 square meter warehouse will connect Eskilstuna with all major logistics hubs in Europe. The project is the company's second establishment in the region and the fifth on Swedish territory. "Mälardalen is a excellent transportation corridor", says Ann-Sofie Jonsson, Commercial Manager at MG Real Estate.
MG Real Estate is a European developer of logistics, office, retail and residential properties. They have been active in the Nordics since 2015 and has existing facilities in Malmö and Västerås.
The new Logistics Park in Eskilstuna is a prime example of a modern logistics property, with direct rail connections to key European multimodal cities such as Malmö, Calais and Milan. It also connects to the E20 highway, with Eskilstuna Airport just 17 kilometers away, and a direct freight train line to the port of Stockholm.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Why did you choose to establish in Mälardalen?
– Nowadays companies want to be connected to the whole world from one place, and the geographical position of Mälardalen makes this possible. The region is one of the best transportation corridors, being easily accessible from Stockholm, Gothenburg and Oslo via the highways and has perfect connections for water, rail and air freight, says Ann-Sofie Jonsson.
– We also saw a demand for this type of modern logistics facilities in Sweden. With sustainability and energy costs being on every company's mind - there is actually money to be saved by moving to a modern logistics facility.
How did Stockholm Business Region help you?
– They have organized meetings for us and arranged tours to look at attractive land, which has been relevant to our business case. They also introduced us to the local government and assisted us with overall insights about the market. Their help has been instrumental to our establishment here.
